Romantic Birthday Gift Ideas for Boyfriend

I visited a friend of mine this afternoon. By time I arrived in her house, she welcomed by with faint smile. She’s a little bit in doubt and sad. I asked why. She told me that her boyfriend will soon celebrate his birthday. In fact that’s just 3 days away. I asked why she’s having dilemma on his boyfriend birthday. she said that she want to make it extra special since this will be the first time he will celebrate his birthday as her boyfriend.

So, she was thinking of romantic birthday ideas that will make her boyfriend’s happy and feel loved more. I told her to just do what she can do. But since she’s not that well-off, she has limitations on what she can do for her boyfriend’s big day. She asked for suggestions. Well, I gave some and I’m not sure what suggestions she would consider. Here are some of my birthday ideas.

Cook for him

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, they say. So I told her why not cook a special recipe for him? As his girlfriend for around 8 months, she should have known by now what he wants, his favorites and likes. As much as women want to be pampered, men want to feel special and loved too. The bonus here is, by doing this, there is a chance that he will do it to you as well.

Set up a romantic date with him

This doesn’t have to be expensive. No need to go to an expensive place just to make him feel special. One thing I advised to my friend is that to set up a sweet and cozy ambiance in her house. Buy some champagne or wine. Have some music and glasses and voila! All you have to do is to make the atmosphere as romantic as possible, and some flirting with him too. You can also set up a table where you can put the food you cooked or bought. Then, enjoy the date!

Write a love letter

Another way to make him feel loved and special is by declaring your feelings for him. May your happy birthday wishes as romantic as it can be. You can write a poem or love notes to declare your everlasting love. Another option is making your own birthday card. He will surely be filled with happiness and joy on his special day.

A surprise party

In this idea, she might need to be a little involved. I suggested her to ask her boyfriend’s friends and co-workers to surprise him on his birthday. I advised her to invite his parents too. Prepare the venue and the surprise birthday party. He will surely be overwhelmed with surprise and joy seeing you and his family on his big day.

It’s not about how expensive or cheap the gift is, for as long as it came to the bottom of your heart. A sweet happy birthday messages on a card would have been good enough. She smiled and said she will think about my suggestions.

The Crazy Little Thing called Dream

I had the most extremely horrifying dream last night. I shouldn’t even categorize it as a dream. It was more of a nightmare. I must be really exhausted by time I was able to hit the sack. They said that when you are so tired, there are higher possibility to dream since you are close to very deep sleep.

That must be true coz I was just typing my goodnight messages to send to my honey and textmates when I suddenly went blank and went into deep sleep. And there goes the dream…

The nightmare began inside my university after school hours. It was already nighttime and there was no soul in sight. For some reason, I was just there. I knew it was my university but the hall doesn’t look familiar at all. I walked around and tried to find the exit doors, but every turn took for the worse. The hall became darker and fog seemed to accumulate inside the school. The fog grew thicker. I felt the walls and tried to turn every doorknob I could find but to no avail. They were all locked.

At last, I came to an unlocked door. Without thinking, I stepped inside. It was a Biology lab. Animal fetus and organs were swirling inside huge jars with slimy green liquid. The fog continued to grow thicker. I felt cold. The jars seemed to glow in the darkness. I went back to the door but it was mysteriously locked! I just wanted to escape. I noticed the laboratory window, some 2 feet above me, and all I could see was darkness outside. I moved a table near the window and climbed up to see if the window had a latch so I could open it, and there was. I tiptoed and struggled to pry it open.

Suddenly, the room fell silent. The eerie feeling was suddenly gone. I slowly planted my feet on the table, and turned. What I saw was the worst I could ever imagine! The skeleton model in the corner of the laboratory was floating behind me and was bleeding! I was horrified! I screamed and jumped off the table but the skeleton quickly gave chase. To make things worse, every jar I ran past exploded. The glass shattered and bits of organs and slim flew everywhere. I just ran around the room and finally, I noticed a fire exit. I pushed it open and ran inside. I quickly shut it behind me. I leaned against the door and tried to catch my breath. In front of me was a flight of stairs. I wondered if I should go down or up. I decided up was best because basements scared me. I walked for what seemed like hours of my life. My legs were tired and they grew numb.

At last, the stairs ended and a door welcomed me. I gulped, wiped the sweat trickling down my face, and grabbed the doorknob. I turned the knob and squinted my eyes, and as I opened them I was back at the Biology laboratory again. The bloody skeleton suddenly pulled me in. and I screamed. After that, it went blank and I thankfully woke up. I checked my phone and it was 6:07 AM already. It’s time to jump out of to bed. I hope I never get that kind of dream again!

My Christmas Gift for my Brother

It’s Christmas time! The long wait is now over. There is someone who truly waits for Christmas to come. Who is it? It’s my brother.

Yes, Christmas time is gift-giving time. This is a season when people expect, buy, give and receive gifts. My brother is included to the category of “expecting” and eventually “receiving” gifts. “Unfortunately”, I am included to the category of “buying” and “giving” gifts this Christmas.

How this expecting, buying, giving and receiving case starts? It was way back on August. It was his birthday. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the money before. So I promised him to buy a gift on Christmas day. So he said he can wait, HE WILL WAIT…

So since today is Christmas, I have to fulfill my promise that I will buy him the gift he wanted so long time ago. Good thing my boss is good enough that he sent me my bonus earlier. I’m saved. So I instantly withdrew cash and go to nearest shopping mall. And look what I’ve got for my brother….

Yes, a new Samsung Galaxy Y. Yeah, I know this doesn’t cost much, but for me, it costs so much. Hahahaha. It left my bank account drained. My salary is not five-digits so don’t be surprised. I bought a Christmas card too, i wrote some Christmas messages, wishing him to enjoy my gift… I went home, I saw my brother waiting for me to come home. He was so excited; I can see it on his face. As soon as I opened the box of his new phone, I saw his face lightened up and flashed the big grin.

Well, although I spent a lot on this present, it’s all worth it. This may look that I gave material gift to my brother but it’s beyond that. I gave him the gift of patience, joy and happiness. In return, he gave me the gift, a special gift. The gift of happiness and satisfaction seeing him enjoy and truly appreciates what I got for him. It’s enough for me. I’m happy with that.

Belated Birthday Greetings for Me

Today has been extra special for me. Wanna know why? Well, I’ve just received a special gift for my birthday. Actually, I had my birthday last week. So, I didn’t expect to receive anything after that. But I surprised that a postman was knocking at our door this morning and had something for me – a birthday wishes from a special friend of mine…

So, just a little tidbit about my birthday bash… I celebrated it with my friends and family last week. Thanks to my boss that gave me an early Christmas and birthday bonus, I was able to throw a small, yet a happy birthday party. I rent videoke, cooked some foods (spaghetti, dynamite, chicken lollipops, and more). We had some drinks. Errr, let me rephrase. We had a LOT OF DRINKS. We partied until 2am and I almost regret it. I had a major hangover after that!

Anyway, back to my special friend. Oh yes! I received something from her – a belated birthday card. Actually, it wasn’t supposed to be a belated birthday greetings coz she sent that a week before my actual birthday. But you know how snail mail works. So I got that exactly 14 days after she mailed it. She didn’t let me know that’s why I was surprised. I even thought that she completely forgot my big day.

She’s one of my friends who know who I really am, knows my likes and interests and keeps some secrets of mine. I consider her as one of those special friends, a best friend. I actually miss her. She’s presently working in Dubai – a region in Middle East. Due to busy working schedule, we have no time to chat or talk over the phone. We still keep in touch though.

Back to her birthday present for me…. Since she knew me well enough, she knew that I love flowers. So I’m glad to receive something with floral design. You can see in the picture that she chose a beautiful design of birthday card. It warms my heart the minute I open the envelope and sees the card. The mere fact that she remembered what I really want and the fact that she didn’t forget to greet me on my special day is simply touching.

Then, I opened the card and was touched even more. It has very heartfelt birthday messages on it. It says:

Happy Birthday!

It was very touching. I’d like to thank my friend, from the bottom of my heart. The joy I felt on my actual birth date has been renewed…. I really feel so lucky to have a friend like her. So tonight, I think I’m going to send her a thank you note on her email. I wish we can have more time to bond even online. It’s too bad we had to sacrifice our time for the friendship we had coz we both need to earn those bucks.

I think this Christmas, it’s for me to return the favor. I’ll be making homemade Christmas cards to send her and get something as a present. I hope she will like it.

11 Days Before Christmas

Hey peeps!

I wasn’t able to write last night, or yesterday. Want to know why? Coz I just got my tooth extracted. A major OUCH! Want me to go to the details? Yes?

So here it goes….

I didn’t plan to get my tooth pulled out in the first place. I initially planned to just get my teeth cleaned and filled. Yes, I was having problem with one tooth. It has hole and I thought filling would fix the problem. But the dentist advised me to undergo through total extraction of the tooth. I was like “oh my”…

And so, the procedure went on. The dentist, her name is Lourdes, cleaned my teeth one by one. At first it was fine. I didn’t feel any pain. It was soothing actually, with the thought of having major maintenance and cleaning of my oral health. However, as the procedure went by, it was becoming more and more intense. She used different tools. And when she asked me to gargle and spit it, I saw lots of well, blood and I got scared. I almost fainted.

And finally, thee cleaning procedure is done. And when I thought I can finally breathe comfortably, she wiped something on my gum, the part where the decayed tooth needs to be extracted. Before I knew it, she inject me an anesthesia. It started to feel numb. And then she finally extracted it. Surprisingly, I didn’t get scared at all. I actually like the thought of getting rid of that tooth that causes me pain every night.

I went home and the first thing I did was to eat porridge. I WAS SO HUNGRY!

Then, I fell asleep… and sleep and sleep…

I woke up this morning very dizzy but I am feeling better and so I was able to write again.

So that was about it. That was my experience 11 days before Christmas, err rather 12 days before Christmas.

New Year Celebration Ideas

There’s no other celebration as grand as New Year. It is the time when people from all over the globe bid ‘adios’ to the present and greet ‘hola’ to the next. It symbolizes transition from old to new and fresh start. Since all of us are joyfully anticipating the arrival of a New Year, might as well try a new way of celebrating it, far from the traditional house party in the evening, although sending New year wishes to family and friends shouldn’t be forgotten  Doing this might really make you feel like having a fresh start. So here are my suggestions on how you can celebrate this grand festivity.

Celebrating New Year with Nature

At least two weeks before New Year, book a flight, if living overseas, and make an arrangement to rent a cabin in the woods where you can rest and warm yourself in a cold night beside a chimney. It’s always better if you make a longer preparation for this to give yourself an ample time to look for a place and avoid the holiday rush. Nevertheless, a spontaneous thought of going outdoors would mean fun and adventure, so it could be an exciting idea for us all. Prepare your New Year’s party dinner, which include a hot creamy noodle soup and some hot beverage like brewed coffee. Cover yourself all over, using a thick warm blanket and enjoy the night.

This is best when done with your partner, because the whole ambiance is tremendously romantic. At the strike of 12 midnight, you can toast with your mug of hot chocolate.

Going Outdoor

Another unique way of celebrating your new year is to go out of town and go camping. It will be fun to bring your friends along and watch city lights below. A little preparation is required though, consider your transportation, how can you get there and where are you going to rest. Of course, do not forget to bring your tent because the idea here is to go camping. Find a good camping spot as part of the preparation.

If you and your friends are hungry for some adventure, going on the camping site by means of commuting and walking would be fun.

Celebrating New Year in the Beach

Some people do spend their holidays on the beach and you might be wondering whether it’s really a great idea. If so, why don’t you try it yourself? During nighttime, the wind by the sea gets refreshingly cold, it could inspire you having a solemn, peaceful and quiet celebration and reflection for the New Year away from the busy city life. Do a little research and you might just find a deserted beach where you can just sit and watch the waves crash into the shore. It is best done by couples as it is very relaxing and extremely romantic.

Celebrating New Year at Home

Some people just can’t leave the comfort of their home and would not exchange this idea for some holiday in outdoors. If they are, just let them be and have the most out of the holidays by making your New Year’s celebration fun and enjoyable. You can play games or rent movies aside from the usual New Year’s dinner. The perks of celebrating it in this fashion is that it wouldn’t cost that much. Last year, I spent this holiday with my family. After I send out my New Year messages and greetings through cards and via email, I joined the family as they watch different fireworks in the sky.

Spending New Year in a Spa

Remove your stresses by spending your New Year in a luxurious spa for some massage. You can definitely find a spa that is open during New Year. Make an advanced reservation for you and your loved one, give them this wonderful treat so that they can welcome the New Year relaxed and stress-free.

To make sure that your New Year will be hassle-free, make sure that the personnel doing the massage will be of the same gender. Letting your partner see a lady masseuse doing your massage would surely spell a problem.

Have your own Firework Displays

Prepare your own fireworks display at the backyard and make this a highlight of your New Year celebration. However, take extra care in handling and arrangement of new year decorations and supplies, as they as highly flammable and are made of substances that can harm one’s health when ingested. Invite your loved ones at the backyard before the strike of midnight; give them their glasses of champagne as everyone do the countdown. Light them at the strike of 12 midnight and watch them with your family, friends and loved ones.

14 Days before Christmas

Oh, it’s morning!

As I opened my eyes, the first thing I did is to check the date and the time. It was 7:16 AM, December 11 2012.

Another day, I told to myself. I initially planned to sleep more but the urge to go to the kitchen and do my morning habits was there so I got up. I grab a cup of coffee, fried egg and rice. I ate as I watch news in the morning news segment. My mind says “same old, same old”…

I was planning to take my morning shower when a thing occurs me… It’s like ringing in my ears… Then I suddenly remember….

“Tomorrow, we will take a break from work. You may rest for one day” – my boss’ words.

Oh my!! Today is off! I should have remembered this earlier so I continue my sleep. But then again, with the loud noises coming from the outside, and the chattering, screaming of my nieces, I don’t think I can make another series of sleep at that rate.

So instead of sulking, I decided to watch TV more. I watch cartoons and some cooking shows.

LUNCH.

It’s lunchtime but I don’t feel like eating. I planned to go to shopping mall with one of my nieces Danielle, but I remember I still don’t have my week’s salary. It should have been better if I have my bonus right now so I can buy my goddaughters some early presents.

This has become customary every Christmas. I am the one who buy stuff for my nieces and family (mom, dad, sister and brother). I used to be so enthusiasm when it comes to this but this year might have been different. So I think I’m just going to give my sister the budget to buy stuff. I really hate being stuck in a long line towards the cashier.

Yes, I’ve come to this point that I haven’t accomplished anything good today. It’s really new. I feel so sleepy and lazy… So I just decided to write some..

One word to describe my day, the 14 days before Christmas – LETHARGIC.
